Class Schedule
Fall 2011
Dr. Kwaku Person-Lynn – Instructor
23 September-No-Cost-- Tonight Only!
This introductory class, which is free, is
unlike anything you have ever experienced in your educational
training. It focuses on the history, culture, and
accomplishments of Black people around the world, from an
Afrikan world perspective. See Dr. Kwaku’s new research.
30 September
Before Kemet (Egypt) there was Nubia or Sudan. The ancient
history of this area set the stage for Nile Valley civilizations
that ultimately developed the foundation for world
civilizations. We will investigate this area with top scholars
who have spent years researching Nubia.
7 October
The late Dr. Ivan Van Sertima taught us about
the Afrikan presence in ancient America and the world through
his book and journals. We will have a chance to watch and learn
from one of his last interviews. We will also take a very
intimate look into the troubled life of Nina Simone, The High
Priestess Of Soul.
14 October
Mathu Ater, dynamic lecturer and architectural
specialist, will present his outstanding lecture, "The Genius of
Imhotep", the world’s first multi-genius. An event not to miss.
21 October
The history of racism evolved during slavery, but developed for
economic reasons. We will see the story of its growth for the
first time, from a British perspective, who were the main
purveyors of the trade. We will also observe an American
Afrikan’s first trip to Afrika, with his honest assessment of
what he experienced.
28 October
Timbuktu was the greatest civilization in West
Afrika during the early period. This was the place where the
Ghana, Mali & Songhay Empires developed, leaving thousands of
manuscripts demonstrating its superior intellectual abilities.
We will also take an inside look at Mecca, the most important
location of the Islamic world.
4 November
Malcolm X was the most important
non-compromising leader of the 1960s. We will see his
magnificent speech he delivered in Los Angeles after the LAPD
attacked the temple. Bill Duke has evolved as one of the most
important and conscious filmmakers in Hollywood. We will review
some of his monumental films coming up. We hope to have him
present.
11 November
We will evaluate one of the most important films ever made on
Afrikan world accomplishments, breaking down common myths and
aspects of history never taught in the American educational
system. Don’t miss this special night.
18 November
Nelson Mandela is one of the most important and
respected world figures of the 20th century. He guides us
through his most eventful life, in his own words, tracing not
only his battle for freedom, but also the freedom of South
Afrika.
25 November
Gordon Parks was one of the most influential
photographers and filmmakers of his time. For the first time we
will trace his extraordinary life that led to a magnificent
legacy.
2 December – Open for new developments.
